Stow tops St. Edward for second time 10-15, 15-13, 15-9
In
game 1, Stow was up 10-6 when St Ed. put on a great run, mixing their hitting
and tipping with great defense. Stow went into a "not to lose" posture and
could not recover. Additionally Stow missed 6 serves in game one. In game
two the lead changed hands several times. St. Ed was ahead 13-11, Stow tied
it at 13 before siding out. It took several side outs before Stow got the
14th and 15th point. In game three, St Ed was ahead at 6-1, when Stow closed
the gap to 8-4. Good defense and no missed serves down the stretch catapulted
Stow past St. Ed to 14-8. St Ed. got the ball back and managed to close the
deficit to 14-9, when Stow sided out and blocked a St Ed right side attack for
match point.
Stow
and St. Edward are the #1 and #2 seeds in the NE and may face each other again
in the regional championship. That is where history would have to repeat
itself. St. Ed after losing to Stow twice during the season, last year, beat
them in the regional finals in three, 15-8, 8-15, 17-15.
