Region 1 – Hudson
Boardman is a slight favorite to win their district, because they have beaten #2 seed Austintown-Fitch twice. In their most recent meeting, Boardman nipped Fitch 8-15, 16-14, 16-14. Boardman has losses to Girard, Bishop Hartley and West Holmes. Stow might challenge, but would have to beat Fitch first. Fitch recently beat Stow in three. Twinsburg and Hudson are other possible threats.
Mentor is the only ranked team from their district. They have lost three tough matches to Elyria, twice to Magnificat, and to Stow and Wooster in Stow’s tournament.
The Massillon Washington District is a tough call, with no clear favorite. Jackson gets a slight nod, having beaten Glen Oak (twice) and Hoover. However they have ten losses. Green beat Tallmadge. Hoover lost in three to Amherst, and also to Wooster, and struggled in a win over Salem. Glen Oak has several losses.
Host Solon is the favorite to win their District. They recently beat Magnificat, and also have wins over Rocky River and Normandy. Their losses include Elyria, Kenston,

Region 2 – Norwalk
This regional will include two teams from the Cleveland area, and two teams from the Northwest District. Magnificat is the favorite to win the North Royalton District. The Blue Streak’s chief competition is likely to be #3 seed North Royalton in the semifinal and #2 seed Padua in the final. Magnificat has played a strong schedule and lost to teams like Ursuline, Toledo St. Ursula, Chaminade-Julienne, Lake Catholic and Solon. They have already beaten Padua, and other wins include Austintown-Fitch, St. Henry (Ky.), Amherst, Walsh Jesuit, Rocky River, Mentor twice and Mansfield Madison twice.
Amherst Steele is the #1 seed in the Grafton District. Their only losses are to Magnificat in three and Div. IV power Norwalk St. Paul. They recently won the North Canton Quad over Hoover and Walsh Jesuit, and have two wins over Rocky River. Elyria has three close wins over Mentor, and has also beaten Normandy and Solon. They lost twice to Rocky River, and also to Sunbury Big Walnut. Grafton Midview is undefeated, but has not played a strong a schedule. Their beat Margaretta in three, and have also beaten Strongsville.
In Northwest District, Toledo St. Ursula is the favorite to win the Perrysburg bracket. They won Magnificat’s Fall Showcase, beating Sylvania Northview, Seton and Magnificat. Other wins include Div. IV power St. Henry, and Vandalia-Butler in three. Their losses are to Ursuline in three and Cin. St. Ursula in a close two game match.
Anthony Wayne has been hot lately and is picked to win the Liberty-Benton bracket. They lost early to Northview and to Bowsher in the final of Bowher’s tournament. They beat Northview in the rematch in three. The Generals also won the Eagle Classic, beating Huron in three and clobbering host Clay in the final. There are a number of teams who could challenge, including Northview, Bowling Green, Holland Springfield and Clay.

Region 3 – Hilliard Davidson
Cincinnati St. Ursula has had an incredible season, going 21-1 against what is possibly the toughest schedule of any team in the state. In the last three weeks they have beaten Notre Dame (Ky.), Seton, Louisville Assumption, Ursuline, McAuley, Mercy and at least two highly ranked Illinois powers. And their schedule prior to that was not much easier. The Bulldogs have been challenged by some of their league opponents, but cannot meet any of them until the State Final. St. Ursula will most likely play Kettering Fairmont or Dayton Carroll in their District Final for the right to go to Hilliard.
Lancaster has been clobbering their Central District competition this year. They made a strong showing at the Nike Classic, including playing then-undefeated Sandburg (Ill.) close. Sandburg lost to Assumption in the final in two, but reports on that match had it that Sandburg did not play well and Assumption played very well. For comparison, St. Ursula beat Assumption in three. Based on these results Lancaster should win their district and they could give St. Ursula trouble.
Watterson has clobbered most of their Central District Division I opponents, and also beat Massillon Jackson and Kettering Fairmont. They have losses to Mt. Notre Dame, McAuley and Div. IV power Centerburg. The other seeds in their district are Upper Arlington, Mt. Vernon and Hilliard Darby, and Watterson would only meet one of them, in the District Final.
Westland and Dublin Coffman have beaten most of their Central opponents, but have had some close calls. Both lost to Lancaster in two (Coffman twice). Against Chillicothe Coffman won in a close two, while Westland went three. Westland has beaten Upper Arlington three times, and handed Div. III power Frankfort Adena their only loss. Coffman, who recently lost to Gahanna, will have to get through Hilliard Davidson, while Westland has Westerville North and DeSales to contend with.

Region 4 – Vandalia
As usual, this regional will be packed with powerful teams. Mother Of Mercy should win their district. They will probably play McAuley in the semifinal and Piqua or Springfield North in the final. If McAuley beats Mercy, look for them to win the district.
Cincinnati Ursuline is a heavy favorite to win their district. They will probably meet Centerville in the final.
Dayton District 1 should be interesting, with the final likely to be between Oak Hills, the only ranked Cincinnati team not from the GGCL, against Mt. Notre Dame. Oak Hills’ wins include Piqua, Purcell Marian and Walnut Hills. Their losses include Seton, Roger Bacon and Sidney Lehman. They almost beat Mercy, and lost their last match in three close games to Lakota East. MND’s 11-11 record is deceiving, as they have played a brutal schedule, and have also had injury problems. They won Stow’s tournament, edging Tallmadge in three for the title.
Dayton District 2 is also interesting as it may feature Seton vs. Vandalia-Butler in the final. Butler beat Seton on the road 15-6, 17-15. Butler’s other wins include Solon, McAuley, Sidney Lehman, Kettering Alter, Centerville and Piqua. Their losses are to Ursuline, Toledo St. Ursula, Mercy and Notre Dame (Ky.). Seton recently stunned Ursuline, and they had a good Week 6, beating Lakota East, Centerville in three, Mt. Notre Dame (15-13, 15-12) and McAuley. On Sept. 28 they lost to Vandalia-Butler, but beat Chaminade-Julienne 15-11, 15-9. Two days earlier they lost to St. Ursula in their second meeting 16-14, 14-16, 7-15. In Week 4 they beat Mercy in a rematch 15-11, 8-15, 15-4, and lost to powerhouse Roger Bacon 8-15, 9-15. They were third at Magnificat’s tournament. Seton will have to beat Sycamore to get to the District final.
