Region 13 – Hudson

Norwalk St. Paul is a heavy favorite to win their district, and Amherst Steele and Huron can attest to that. Each of those teams has two losses, but St. Paul is the only team to beat them in two games. St. Paul also ripped Oregon Clay, Clyde, Fremont Ross and Elida.

Ashtabula Sts. John & Paul is picked to win the NDCL District. They will likely meet Newbury in one district final and Gilmour Academy should play Fairport Harding in the other semifinal.

Windham is the favorite at the Lisbon District, but that is because they are the #1 seed (results are unavailable for making comparisons). Windham has beaten Berlin Hiland and Norwayne and losses include Kidron Central Christian and James Garfield.

Kidron Central Christian is a big favorite in the Medina District. Kidron’s only losses are to West Holmes 16-14, 13-15, 9-15 and Archbold 10-15, 10-15. They have beaten Berlin Hiland, Windham, Akron Hoban, Smithville and #3 seeded Dalton.

Possible Regional Pairings:

Norwalk St. Paul vs. Ashtabula Sts. John & Paul

Windham vs. Kidron Central Christian

Region 14 – Elida

Pettisville lost their first match of the season to Wauseon and their last or next to last to Evergreen. In an earlier meeting they gave Evergreen its only loss in a three game squeaker, and they beat #2 seed Ayersville in two. They have also beaten North Central, the #1 seed in the other bracket, twice, once holding them to five points. Pettisville should win the Montpelier District.

McComb, top seeded in their bracket of the Liberty-Benton District, was 16-2 after a recent close three game loss to Liberty-Benton. Riverdale lost to Liberty-Benton 14-16, 5-15, beat Buckeye Central, split with Lucas, and lost to Bucyrus in three and Wynford in two. McComb should play Van Buren, who played Kalida tough, in one semifinal, with Riverdale meeting Arlington (Riverdale has beaten them before) in the other semifinal. McComb or Riverdale will advance to the regional, and the mental coin toss goes to McComb.

Kalida is the favorite in the Coldwater District with wins over Archbold and Elida. Their losses are to Minster, Columbus Grove and Convoy Crestview. They will probably play #2 seed  Fort Jennings in the semifinal, a team they beat in September 16-14, 15-10.

Old Fort should win the Bowling Green District. They have beaten Div. III teams like Northwood and Seneca East, as well as #2 seed Fremont St. Joseph, and #1 upper bracket seed Gibsonburg. Old Fort would play St. Joe in the semifinal and Gibsonburg in the final. Another hurdle could come in the Sectional if they meet Hopewell-Loudon. Things have not gone well for Hopewell this year, but they are still five time defending State champions until someone beats them. And Hopewell scored 16 points on Old Fort in a league match that lasted 50 minutes.

Possible Regional Pairings:

Pettisville vs. McComb

Kalida vs. Old Fort

Region 15 – Lancaster

This region has one entrant from Central District and three from Southeast District. Centerburg should win the Central District title. Their only loss is to Jonathan Alder. They have beaten Watterson, Big Walnut, Westerville South, and Fredericktown twice. Newark Catholic would be their main competition. They have played a very strong schedule that includes a loss to Watterson.

Beaver Eastern lost for the first time in their final match of the regular season, to Minford, but they are still the top pick in the McDermott #2 bracket. In the McDermott #1 bracket, second seeded North Adams is picked over #1 seed Portsmouth Clay. North Adams would meet Clay in the semifinal and the winner is likely to meet Whiteoak, South Webster or Latham Western in the final. Wellsville or Berlin Hiland look like the top teams in the Belmont Union District.

Possible Regional Pairings

Beaver Eastern vs. Wellsville

Centerburg vs. North Adams

Region 16 – Vandalia-Butler

Two of the top three Div. IV teams in the state are in this region, and only one of them can get past October 22. That is when St. Henry will meet Marion Local, barring any upsets. St. Henry just beat Marion for the league title in a three game match in which Marion did not play well. Anything can happen in the rematch. St. Henry is a very slight favorite to win the Coldwater District, and whoever does win is likely to get to the State Final.

South Charleston Southeastern is the only ranked team in the Dayton #2 District. They have losses to Springfield Northwestern and Shawnee, and Elgin. They had trouble beating unseeded Cedarville. They should win the district, but Cincinnati Seven Hills or Sidney Fairlawn could challenge.

Jackson Center is favored in the Dayton #1 bracket, and either Franklin-Monroe or Fort Loramie in Dayton #3. Jackson Center and Fort Loramie split matches with each other this year.

Possible Regional Pairings:

St. Henry vs. South Charleston Southeastern

Franklin-Monroe vs. Jackson Center

Possible State Final Four

Norwalk St. Paul (Region 13)

Old Fort (Region 14)

Centerburg (Region 15)

1 St. Henry, 2 Marion Local (Region 16)
