Week 7 Highlights

Oct. 12 - Cin. St Ursula won the Mizuno Cup in Chicago. They beat the 3rd ranked Chicago area team Mundelein (19-1 before tourney) and 4th ranked Naperville North (18-1 before tourney) in the semis. It was a 20 team tourney with teams from IL, OH, PA, IA. The tourney hopes to go to 24 teams next year, and to increase the quality of teams to rival the Nike challenge. If things pan out, St Ursula could be competing for the National crown next year in this tourney.

Weekend's Tournament Results

Oct. 10 - Kettering Alter surprises Roger Bacon 16-14, 14-16, 15-11. Seton tops Mercy 15-13, 5-15, 15-10. Vandalia-Butler beats Piqua to win league 15-3, 15-5. Kalida over Archbold 5-15, 15-9, 15-8. Norwalk topples Fostoria 15-9, 15-12. Genoa over Gibsonburg 15-11, 15-11. Newark Catholic 9-15-15 Bishop Hartley 15-7-6. Wynford 7-15-15 Ontario 15-10-2. West Holmes, Grafton Midview and Canal Winchester finish seasons 22-0. Ben Logan ends at 21-1.

Frankfort Adena wraps up SVC "Gold Volleyball".

Oct. 9 - Fairbanks upsets Marion Pleasant 15-7, 15-12. Liberty Benton (19-1) squeaks past McComb (16-2) 15-8, 14-16, 15-12.

Oct. 8 - Jonathan Alder now 20-0 after 15-7, 15-13 win over Washington Court House. Cin. St. Ursula ekes out win over Mercy 7-15, 15-7, 16-14. Seton stuns Ursuline 12-15, 17-15, 16-14. Oak Hills over Lakota West 15-5, 10-15, 15-5. Solon surprises Magnificat 15-8, 8-15, 15-10. Elyria over Mentor 15-13, 14-16, 15-9; Kate Verhoff has 36 assists, 10 kills and is perfect on 109 sets, Megan Skouby has 22 kills. Adena beats Unioto 15-8, 15-2 to clinch outright league title. Midview remains unbeaten after scare from Wellington 15-13, 12-15, 15-4. Hubbard still unbeaten with win over Girard 15-1, 15-12. Columbus Grove topples Kalida 15-12, 8-15, 16-14. Big Walnut uses big momentum shift to beat Mt. Vernon 1-15, 19-17, 15-1. Springfield Shawnee over Tippecanoe 15-6, 15-11. Austintown-Fitch tops Stow 15-4, 9-15, 15-11. Canal Winchester, North College Hill, Wheelersburg and Beaver Eastern remain unbeaten.
