Cincinnati McNicholas Rockets (13-9, 4-4 GGCL)

2002 Highlights

McNicholas' record was misleading because they played an unusually strong schedule. Their losses included two to Roger Bacon and Alter, plus Ursuline and St. Ursula. They had wins over Milford, Badin, Williamsburg and Purcell Marian.

McNicholas had a very young team in 2002, as a look at their stat leaders will show.

Senior outside hitter Rachael Estes led in three categories, kill attempts, digs and service aces. Estes also had 118 kills.

But 5'10" freshman Sara Staubach led the team in kills with 124. She also led in hitting percentage with .366. Staubach made Second Team All-GGCL, which is especially notable considering the overall strength of the conference.

Two other youngsters, 6'2" frosh Katey Schroeder and 6'0" sophomore Katelyn Reber chipped in with another 198 kills, and both hit over .310. Reber led the team in block assists, while Schroeder was tops in solo blocks.

Junior Julie Lach had 443 in assists. Sophomore Laura Estes was second with 68.
