2002 Summary
The Lions upended GGCL league regular season champ
St. Ursula to win the State Championship (see
Final
Four Results). The teams reversed roles from 2001 when Ursuline won the
league title, only to lose to the Bulldogs in the State Final.
Season Highlights
Ursuline is one of the two Div. I teams to beat
this year, the other being Cin. St. Ursula. However, St. Ursula has beaten
Ursuline twice in close matches, 6-15, 15-6, 20-18, and 13-15, 15-12, 15-11. Ursuline beat Roger Bacon 15-9, 15-6, and Bacon beat St. Ursula 15-7,
11-15, 15-5.
Ursuline won Vandalia-Butler's tri-match, beating
Butler and Toledo St. Ursula. Other wins include Mercy, Notre Dame Academy
(Ky.), Mount Notre Dame, Seton, Kettering Alter and McAuley. The Lions also won
the Wooster Quad, beating Magnificat, Mansfield Madison and Wooster, all in two
games.
