2004    2003

Highlights

10/22/05 - The Kings Lady Knights closed out their 2005 season tonight against the Seton Saints. The Knights played well (better than the scores would indicate) but they were simply outplayed by the Saints who took the match in straight sets, 25-12, 25-14 and 25-8.

The Knights held leads in all three games, but in many cases fell victim to their own mistakes. Junior middle Sarah Shipley led the Knights' offense with a number of impressive kills. Senior libero Julia Harvat brought the crowd to its feet with some terrific saves. The Knights finish the 2005 campaign at 17-7. They graduate only three seniors, so things look good for a strong returning team in 2006.

10/18/05 - The Kings Lady Knights notched their first play-off victory as a Division I team tonight against Hughes Center.  The Knights, who moved up to Division I in 2005 after years in Division II, chalked up an easy, straight-set win against Hughes, 25-10, 25-7, 25-13.

Kings won't have long to savor the victory, however.  They're back in action Thursday night against Cincinnati powerhouse, Seton.

10/10/05 - The Kings Lady Knights played their final regular season match tonight at home against Middletown Fenwick.  The Knights took Game 1 25-21 but the Falcons proved to be no push-over, coming back with a strong 25-15 Game 2 win.

The lead changed hands several times in Game 3 with Kings finally coming out on top 25-23.  The Knights had an easier time of it in Game 4, notching the 25-19 match victory.

10/08/05 - The Kings Lady Knights were still in a bit of a funk following their Thursday night loss to Turpin for the FAVC crown.  Kings came out flat Saturday morning against host Anderson and never quite got in the match.  Anderson was never in trouble, notching 25-17 and 25-13 wins.

Kings' offense woke up in the second match against Princeton, coming up with a solid 25-13 Game 1 win.  A line-up change seemed to throw the Knights off in Game 2, allowing Princeton to square the match with a 25-21 Game 2 victory.  The Knights regained control in Game 3, coming away with the 15-11 match win.

10/04/05 - Cincinnati Turpin pulled off a dramatic comeback to topple Kings tonight in what was, in effect, the FAVC Buckeye Division title match.  It took two games before Turpin's block turned the tide in the match, effectively shutting down all of Kings front line. The Spartans played some great defense too. Kings jumped out to a 2-0 lead, 25-21, 25-18, but Turpin then reeled off three straight wins, 25-19, 25-22, 15-11 for the
conference title.

Kings finishes at 5-1 in FAVC. Turpin is 5-0 and, even if they lose their final conference match to Norwood, will still claim the title due to tonight's victory.

10/03/05 - Monday night was Senior Night for the Kings Lady Knights as they hosted the Milford Eagles.  The Knights trailed for the better part of Game 1 but clawed their way back for a 29-27 win.  Milford came back in Game 2, 25-23. The Knight defense then took the spotlight, playing a key role in 25-17 victory in Game 3, and they used a balanced attack to seal the deal in Game 4, cruising to a 25-12 match win.

10/01/05 - Kings' Lady Knights found out that running with the big dogs is no easy feat.  Kings dropped both ends of their tri-match against Mason and Fairfield.  Mason defeated Fairfield in the third match.

The Knights played Fairfield tough in Game 1 of the opener, falling just short 25-23.  In Game 2, both offense and defense started clicking and Kings came away with a 25-16 victory.  It was a battle in Game 3 but Fairfield came away with the 15-13 match win.

Mason had their hands full in Game 1 of their match against Fairfield, finally winning Game 1, 29-27.  The Comets had an easier time of it in Game 2, finishing the match with a 25-17 victory.

Kings offense never quite came on line in the finale against Mason.  Mason cruised to a 25-10 Game 1  victory.  The Knights played better in Game 2 but still came out on the short end, 25-16.

09/29/05 - The Kings Lady Knights tool to the road in Hamilton Thursday night where they knocked off the Badin Rams.  The Knights got off to a fast start, cruising to a 25-15 Game 1 victory.  Badin turned up the heat in Game 2 but still came up short, 25-22.  In Game 3, Badin played some awesome defense to hold off the Knights, 26-24.  Kings regrouped in Game 4, however, and powered their way to a 25-19 match victory.

Key to the Knights offense in the match were senior setter Ashley Seuberling and hard-hitting freshman OH, Logan Shircliff. The defense was anchored by senior libero, Julia Harvat, who collected 18 digs.

The Knights host a tri-match Saturday against two strong Division I squads, Mason and Fairfield.

09/28/05 - The Kings Lady Knights were back in action Wednesday night against FAVC rival Norwood.  Norwood started out tough but Kings was too much in the stretch.

09/27/05 - Kings had too much firepower for Purcell Marian Monday night.  The Lady Knights dispatched the Cavaliers in three straight games, 25-14, 25-19, 25-11, showing their most balanced offense of the season and backing it up with stingy defense.

09/23/05 - Kings hosted the Trojans of Glen Este Thursday night. The Knights got off to a shaky start, dropping game one 25-22, but after that, their front line opened fire as they swept the Trojans, 25-15, 25-16, 25-16. The Knights were lead by sophomore OH Erin Wolfe, and the junior middle blocking tandem of Julie Shick and Sarah Shipley.

09/15/05 - The Kings Lady Knights got back on track tonight against FAVC rival, Wilmington.  The Knights took Game 1, 25-18 but faltered in Game 2, losing to the Hurricanes 24-26.  The Knights regrouped and took control of the match in Game 3, 25-15.  The lead in Game 4 changed hands several times before Kings pulled away for the 25-18 match victory.

The Knights offense was lead by sophomore, Erin Wolfe, who moved from MH to OH for this match.  Kings defense was anchored by the spot-on passing of senior libero, Julia Harvat.

09/13/05 - The Kings Lady Knights traveled to Hamilton Monday night for a non-conference match against the Hamilton High School Big Blue.  Kings got off to a fast start, winning game one, but Hamilton regrouped and took the match, staving off a Knights rally in game four.

09/11/05 - The Kings Lady Knights took home the championship trophy for the second straight year this afternoon at the Miami Middletown volleyball tournament.

09/08/05 - It was another five-game marathon for the Kings Lady Knights, on the road against the Loveland Tigers. Kings nipped Loveland in Game 1, 26-24.  The Tigers came back in Game 2, 25-19. In the third stanza, Kings jumped back in front with a 25-22 win.  Loveland then knotted things at two with a 25-17 win in Game 4. Game 5 saw a number of lead changed but Kings finally broke out in front and finished the match with a 15-11 victory. Kings is now 4-1 on their season.  Loveland falls to 2-3.

09/06/05 - It was one of those rare occasion when the Lady Knights played the Lady Knights. More specifically the Kings Lady Knights played host to the Northwest High School Lady Knights in FAVC Cardinal Division action Tuesday night. Northwest was thoroughly outgunned by Kings who racked up the quick hat-trick 25-11, 25-9 and 25-10 in a match that took just 55 minutes. Tomorrow's scheduled match against Loveland has been postponed until Thursday due to the sudden death this past weekend of Kings High School Principal Tom Higgins.

09/02/05 - The Bellbrook Eagles spoiled the Kings' home opener Thursday night, beating the Lady Knights 25-20, 24-26, 25-23, 12-25. The Eagles were the only team to beat Kings during last year's record 22-2 season.

After dropping the opener, the Knights regrouped and battled back, but still fell short in Game 2, 26-24.  They finally got it right, taking Game 3 25-23, but their rally ran out of steam. The Knights fall to 2-1 on the season, while  Bellbrook improves to 2-0.

08/28/05 - The Kings Lady Knights opened their 2005 volleyball campaign Saturday with an away match against the Wyoming Cowboys.  The Knights got off to a slow start dropping Game 1 by a score of 20-25, then stumbling again in Game 2, 23-25.

In Game 3, the Lady Knights kicked up the defense and offense and came away with a 25-17 win.  With the momentum in their favor, they took Game 4 by an identical 25-17 score.  In the final stanza, Kings continued to roll, completing the comeback with a 15-10 match victory. Kings offense was lead by junior middle hitter, Sarah Shipley.  The defense was sparked by senior libero, Julia Harvat, who had a career-high 22 digs. The Knights open their FAVC title defense Wednesday at Little Miami.
