Highlights
Summary
Westland has a lot of players back from a team
that went to the regional last year. They have beaten Upper Arlington twice.
On Sept. 7 they were runner-up in the Lancaster Tourney, losing to Lancaster in the
final 9-15, 7-15. (Lancaster made a strong showing at the Nike Classic).
Westland won the Grove City Tourney, beating then undefeated Div. III power
Frankfort Adena
12-15, 15-5, 15-5. On 10/5
Westland won a tri-match over Westerville South in three and Talawanda in two.

GOES UNDEFEATED IN OCC-Cardinal Division with a 10-0 record. TheLady Cougars are 18-1 Overall - Seeded #4 in Central District Playoff's.

Brady Quinn Heather Meyer (Westland Volleyball)
The two Dispatch-Agonis Club athletes of the week, based on performances
from Sept. 23-28:
Heather Meyer, Westland Meyer, a 5-9 senior middle hitter, powered Westland
to a 5-0 week, including the championship in the Grove City Invitational on
Saturday. In the championship match against Frankfort Adena, Meyer racked up
16 kills, eight blocks, five aces and seven digs. Westland also defeated
Ready (15-0, 15-1) and Bexley (15-1, 15-10) in the tournament. The Cougars
defeated Thomas Worthington 15-11, 16-14 on Sept. 24 and Dublin Scioto 15-8,
15-5 on Sept. 26. For the week, Meyer had 40 kills, 20 blocks and 21 digs.
Quinn and Meyer will receive plaques during the Agonis Club luncheon at noon,
Oct. 11 at the River Club, 679 W. Long St.

Westland has a 7-1
record, with their only loss being to undefeated Lancaster early in the
season. In Week Four week, they beat previously undefeated Upper Arlington, at UA,
15-7, 15-8. Westland was ranked #4 in the Coaches poll in the Columbus Dispatch
2 weeks ago. Westland had a good Week Five, winning two league matches, then
winning the Grove City Invitational by beating previously undefeated Frankfort
Adena in the final 12-15, 15-5, 15-5.
