Bucyrus Wynford Team Highlights 2002

Summary

Wynford won the Buckeye Central Quad on Sept. 14, beating Tiffin Calvert, Seneca East and Buckeye Central all in two games. Earlier they beat Bucyrus in three, and they have been winning league matches convincingly. They have most of their team back from last year when they were District Runner-Up (they lost to Seneca East in three, and Seneca lost a 15-13, 15-13 squeaker to Huron in the Regional). They beat Riverdale on 9/26.

10/22/02

Wynford gained a measure of revenge last night against the Mohawk Lady
Warriors and in the end have won a trip to the district finals versus Huron
Saturday at Willard; game time is 3:30. The Lady Royals hammered out a
15-6, 15-8 win. The Royals were led at the net by Amber Rall's 6 kills
while Lindsey Fullenkamp and Amanda Hoeft each chipped in 5 kills. The
Royals move to 22-2 on the season.

10/20/02

Wynford (21-2) Defeated Ontario in the Div. III sectional at Ontario by scores of 15-8, 15-7. The Royals were led by Katie Moore's 13 points while Amanda Hoeft and Amber Rall chipped in 6 kills apiece. Megan Hamilton chipped in 9 blocks and Dani Grochowalski dished out 14 assists. The Royals will look to avenge one of their two losses on the season as the meet Mohawk (20-3) in the District semis at Ontario on Tuesday night at 7:30.

10/16/02

The Lady Royals finish the season with a 20-2 mark as they defeat Lucas (2nd
seed in the DIV sectional at Plymouth) 15-12, 15-11. The Royals rebound
from a sloppy start in both games to rally for victories. Amanda Hoeft
turned in another dominating Net performance with 10 kills and 12 blocks
while Amber Rall chipped in 9 kills and Megan Hamilton added 11 blocks.
Dani Grochowalski led the Royal point parade with 10 points on 5 aces. The
number one seeded Royals open tournament play in the Ontario sectional
versus the winner of the Ontario/Bucyrus semifinal at approximately 3:00
this Saturday.

10/12/02

Wynford swept a tri match at Elgin today. The Royals defeated Marion Harding 15-7, 15-10 and followed it with a 15-9, 12-15, 15-7 victory over the host Comets. The Royals are now 19-2 and end the regular season on Tuesday at Lucas.

10/10/02

Wynford defeated Ontario tonight 7-15, 15-10, 15-2. The Royals now move to
17-2, 12-1. The Royals were led by Lindsey Fullenkamp's 8 kills and Megan
Hamilton's 15 points on 4 aces and 18-20 serving. Amanda Hoeft chipped in 13
blocks and 7 kills. It took the Royals a little while to get on track
offensively but once they did they took control of the match. The Royals
travel to Elgin on Saturday to face Elgin and Marion Harding.

Wynford took their first North Central Conference Volleyball Title since 1991 with a 15-13, 15-5 victory at Bucyrus Tuesday night October 8. That victory coupled with Buckeye Central's defeat at Riverdale gives the Lady Royals the outright NCC crown. Megan Hamilton pounded out 10 points while Amanda Hoeft hammered 10 Kills and Amber Rall added 8 Kills. Dannielle Grochowalski dished out 31 assists for the Royals. Wynford's 8 seniors (3 four year letter winners, 3 three year letter winners, and 2 two year letter winners) will play their final home game of the season on Thursday against Ontario.

Wynford defeated New Riegel today 15-4, 15-2. The Royals were led at the
Net by Amber Rall and Megan Hamilton each with 6 kills. The Royals travel
to Bucyrus for an NCC game with their backyard rival Redmen on Tuesday.
10/04/02

The Lady Royals bounced back Thursday evening to defeat State ranked and two time defending NCC champs Buckeye Central by scores of 15-7, 15-3.
Wynford was led by middle hitters Megan Hamilton and Amanda Hoeft with 9 and 8 kills respectively as outside hitters Amber Rall and Lindsey Fullenkamp
chipped in 8 and 7 kills respectively. Dani Grochowalski dished out 29
assists on the evening. The Royals now stand 14-2 overall and at 10-1 in
the NCC retake a two game lead with three games to go. The Lady Royals
travel to New Riegel on Saturday, Bucyrus on Tuesday and host Ontario on
Thursday. Looking down the road to next Saturday (October 12) two state
ranked division three powers will do battle at Elgin as the Royals travel to
Elgin to face the Comets and Marion Harding.

10/01/02

The Wynford Lady Royals (13-2) lost their first league match Tuesday
evening to an inspired Colonel Crawford squad (10-4). The Royals bounced
back from a 13-7 deficit to take game one 15-13. They never could get
themselves on track offensively in game two and fell 15-8, in game three the
Royals seemed in command with a 10-2 lead but the Eagles came storming back
to finish the game at 15-13. Amanda Hoeft led the Royals at the net with 14
kills and 16 blocks. The Royals must bounce back to play state ranked
Buckeye Central on Thursday in another important NCC match at Wynford.
09/28/02

The shorthanded Wynford Royals lost to a talented Mohawk squad today 6-15,
15-7, 15-9. The Royals defeated Plymouth in the first match of the day
15-8, 15-5. The Royals played the day without starting setter Danielle
Grochowalski and outside hitter Amber Rall as they were meeting recruiting
requirements for college admission out of state.

The Royals play at Colonel Crawford (11-4) Tuesday and then host Buckeye Central (12-4) on Thursday. This is a key week in the NCC as the Royals match up with the only two schools able to catch them in the league race.

Wynford is undefeated 11-0 and 9-0 in our league.  This week we
defeated Crestline and Riverdale (both league wins).  This weekend we will
face Plymouth and Mohawk. Leading players for Wynford are: Danielle Grochowalski-setter, Megan Hamilton-MH/MB, Amanda Hoeft MH/MB, and Amber Rall-OH. 

09/26/02

The Lady Royals of Wynford ended Riverdale's three game win streak tonight
defeating the Falcons by scores of 15-12, 15-6. Amanda Hoeft senior middle
hitter dominated the net for the Royals with 8 kills and 16 blocks. The
Royals are in a tri match at Sycamore Mohawk on Saturday for a match with
Mohawk and Plymouth. The Royals are now 12-0 overall and 9-0 in the
North Central Conference. The Falcons were tied for second heading into to
tonight's game and the Royals now hold a three game lead in the conference.
