Cincinnati Ursuline served notice that they are a force to be reckoned with this year with a convincing 15-9, 15-6 home court win over Roger Bacon. For a while it seemed like the match would be a struggle all the way. There were seven service breaks after Ursuline took a 1-0 lead, and seven more with some long volleys when Ursuline led 5-3. Roger Bacon gradually pulled ahead 9-7. However, the Lions scored 19 of the next 20 points, as they rolled to an 11-1 second game lead. Setter Kelly Byrnes served for eight points in game two, while jump server Stephanie Blackburn had five.

Leading the Lions were: Carli Reihman and Jeanna Staun each with six kills; Kelly Rahn eight blocks and Erin Kanetzke six; Stephanie Blackburn, Jeanna Staun and Carli Reihman all with six digs, and Michaele Blackburn with five; and Kelly Byrnes led in assists. Overall it was a very balanced and strong showing.
