Week of Aug. 27 - Sep. 2
09/02/05 - Kings is 24-3 over the past two years, but 0-3
against Bellbrook. The Eagles spoiled Kings' home opener last night
25-20, 26-24, 23-25, 25-12. Shekinah Christian knocked off West
Jefferson 25-15, 25-15, 24-26, 25-20. Warsaw River View is off to a
3-0 start with wins over Centerburg and Byesville Meadowbrook.
Bishop Hartley and Mount Notre Dame will travel to
Findlay tomorrow for a tri-match. Elgin (4-0) will tangle with
Jonathan Alder.
This Saturday will also feature several good tournaments, including Toledo St.
Ursula's Best of Ohio, the Sidney Lehman Invitational, the Norwalk Invite and
Celina's CASAD Invitational (see
Tournaments).
09/01/05 - Bloom Carroll topped Granville
25-20, 25-12,
25-13 on
Tuesday, led by Meghan
Simons with 19 kills and
Ashley Hughes with 32 assists and 13
digs. Also on Tuesday, St. Henry nipped Celina
28-26, 25-22, 27-29, 25-20 and Rocky
River rallied to nip Firelands 18-25, 23-25, 25-20, 25-22, 20-18.
08/31/05 - Sidney Lehman knocked off visiting
Marion Local 25-17, 18-25, 25-17, 25-21. Fort Loramie got a huge
league win over Anna
17-25, 25-13, 25-17, 25-20.
In a tri-match
held at Newport Catholic (Ky.), Roger Bacon defeated their hosts
25-13, 25-8, then stopped Mother of Mercy 25-21, 15-25, 25-19.
08/30/05 -
Leslie Hoelscher
had 31 kills and Hayley Barhorst 42 assists to lead
Fort Loramie over Coldwater,
25-20, 25-17, 19-25, 25-15. Firelands served up 17 aces in a win over
Brookside. Bishop Hartley is 2-0 following wins over
Notre Dame-Cathdral Latin and Worthington Christian.
08/29/05 - Bishop Watterson,
McAuley and St. Henry (Ky.) split a tri-match Saturday.
St. Henry beat Watterson, who beat McAuley who beat St. Henry.
Elgin won the Fairbanks tri-match without
Molly Creamer who is out with an injury, beating South Charleston Southeastern
and Fairbanks. Jocelyn Ute led the Comets' attack, along with sophomores
Rebecca Gamby and Brittany Hilgenberg.
Cincinnati Seton currently has the lead in
college signings. The Saints have five players with commitments:
Emily Sullivan (Marshall); Megan Griffin (Miami University); Chelsea Graman (Villanova); Maggie Bonomini (Cleveland State);
and, Kelly Walter (Findlay).
