Week 5 Highlights - 2004 Week of Oct. 2 10/3/04 - Fort Wayne Concordia repeated as champions of Convoy Crestview's Lady Knight Pepsi Challenge. They defeated Sidney Lehman in the final 25-20, 23-25, 15-6. (Scores) Elyria Coach Carol Russo attained her 500th victory as the Pioneers won the Elyria Power Quad. 10/1/04 - Westfall ended Frankfort Adena's 44 match conference winning streak with a solid 23-25, 25-17, 25-15, 25-17 win. Freshman Cassie Sowers led Westfall with 22 kills and Chelsea Popowki had 16. Amanda Atchison had 17 kills for Adena. Second ranked (Div. II) Roger Bacon registered a convincing 25-13, 25-16, 25-13 victory over third ranked Archbishop Alter. The Kings Lady Knights ran their winning streak to twelve tonight against FAVC rival Goshen. Kings turned back the Warriors 24-26, 25-16, 25-17, 25-14. Kings is ranked 20th in the Coaches Poll. The GGCL Division I got more confusing as St. Ursula beat Mt. Notre Dame and Ursuline defeated Mercy. 9/30/04 - Roger Bacon will host Archbishop Alter tonight in a match between the state's second and third ranked teams. Roger Bacon beat Mercy Tuesday in a battle between the top teams in the Cincinnati Enquirer's Division I and Division II-IV polls. Elyria Catholic defeated Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin on Tuesday 25-15, 25-21, 14-25, 25-17. 9/29/04 - Wooster toppled #1 ranked Orrville 25-21, 20-25, 25-23, 25-21. Leading the 8-3 Generals were Rebecca Norman with 14 kills, and Lindsay Raus with 10 kills and 10 blocks. In GGCL inter-division matchups, Mt. Notre Dame topped Archbishop Alter 25-21, 25-13, 25-23, Roger Bacon topped Mercy 25-20, 25-20, 25-18 and Seton downed McNicholas 19-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-12. Solon moved into a tie with Kenston in the Western Reserve North by beating the Bombers 25-21, 13-25, 25-20, 20-25, 15-12. In action Monday night, Walnut Hills defeated Lakota West 25-20, 25-16, 25-18. Toledo Whitmer, who gave Findlay some problems at Saturday's Rebel Classic, was at it again Monday, forcing Toledo St. Ursula to go four games. In a match ealier this season Whitmer outscored Clay by nine points in a four game loss.
