New Bremen came back from a first game trouncing to beat Ft. Recovery 3-15, 18-16, 15-9. They had a few nervous moments in game three when Ft. Recovery, down 13-1, forced several sideouts and gradually closed to 13-9.

Norwalk, who beat Fostoria earlier in the week, knocked off Bellevue 13-15, 15-13, 15-12.

Oct. 8 - Dublin Coffman clinched the O.C.C. title with a victory over Gahanna Tuesday night. It was their first title in school history.

Oct. 7 - The rugged GGCL is known for parity and that was in evidence tonight as McAuley surprised Mt. Notre Dame 7-15, 15-12, 16-14 while St. Ursula, ranked #1 nationally by PrepVolleyball.com, struggled with Mercy 15-10, 15-13. (Mercy toppled Mt. Notre Dame last week, just two nights after losing to Seton). Ursuline beat Seton to keep their title hopes alive for Thursday night when they face St. Ursula.

Elsewhere, Lake Catholic avenged their only loss by beating Notre Dame-Cathedral-Latin 9-15, 15-7, 15-12. According to the Plain Dealer, Alex Shinhearl, who is 5'4" made a huge block of NDCL's 6'0" hitter Allie Perko with the score 14-12 to help stave off a Lion rally.

St. Henry got a big scare at Ft. Recovery but managed to stay unbeaten in the MAC 16-14, 17-15. Ft. Recovery setter/hitter Joscie Kaup had 17 digs, 15 assists and nine kills. Minster rolled over New Knoxville, setting up Thursday's match with St. Henry for the MAC title. Even though Minster has been to state more recently than the Redskins, they have not won the league since 1979. St. Henry has won the last ten years in a row.

Eastern Brown clinched an outright Southern Hills League title with a win over Ripley. Old Fort beat Bettsville to clinch a share of the Midland Athletic League title.

Genoa remained undefeated in the Suburban Lakes League. Laura and Sarah Gerkensmeyer combined for thirteen digs, nine kills and six aces. Nicole Nissen led with eleven kills and eleven blocks as the Comets beat Kansas Lakota 15-8, 15-7.

Findlay clobbered Sandusky 15-0, 15-2 to clinch their league's title at 10-0. Sandusky, who took Findlay to three earlier in the year, now has two league losses.

Frankfort Adena, who clinched their 14th consecutive Scioto Valley Conference title last week, beat Unioto 15-3, 15-9. The Lady Warriors started off the match on a 9-0 roll and finished it with a 5-0 spurt.

Orrville won on the road over Mansfield Madison 15-12, 15-8, thereby clinching the Ohio Cardinal Conference title. This is the inaugural year for this league which also includes West Holmes and Wooster.

Speaking of West Holmes, they handed Kidron Central Christian their first loss 15-7, 15-11 in a match played Monday night. The Knights have played eight matches against state-ranked teams, and have handed Orrville, Tuscarawas Valley and Kidron their only losses. West Holmes lost to Orrville in a 2 hour 20 minute marathon in the final of the Jackson Invitational 19-17, 13-15, 13-15, and again in three at Orrville. They also split matches with Mansfield Madison.

Oct. 6 - Eastern Brown is currently 18-1 overall and 11-0 in the Southern Hills League. They
clinched their second league championship in a row last night with a win over North
Adams 16-14, 15-6.  The win also broke a school record for wins in a regular season
with 18.  The Lady Warriors now have a SHL winning streak now of 26 matches in a row.  With two matches remaining they are going for their second GOLD BALL in a row.

Quote of the Week - "It was ironic that we don't play "net serves" in Ohio and yet we won the 33-31 marathon game vs. Bellevue (Nebraska) when Ali Hausfeld served a ball short and it teetered on the tape and then just, literally, dropped over the net onto their side" - Tina Jasinowski, Head Coach, Archbishop Alter, whose Knights finished fifth in the Nike Challenge in Chicago last weekend. (More Comments from Coach Jasinowski)

Final Week - The final full week of the regular season features lots of exciting matchups.

The festivities begin tonight in Kidron where unbeaten Central Christian hosts Division II power West Holmes. Last year the Knights hosted this match and won 14-16, 15-13, 15-9.

On Tuesday Lake Catholic gets another shot at Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin in the battle for the North Coast title. NDCL won their first meeting 15-10, 11-15, 15-12.

Mansfield Madison will try to avenge an earlier 15-17, 15-9, 11-15 loss when they entertain league leading Orrville. A Rams' victory would give Orrville their second conference loss and throw the race into a three-way battle between Madison, Orrville and West Holmes.

On Thursday St. Henry visits neighboring Minster in a Division IV and Midwest Athletic Conference showdown. The Redskins, whose only loss is to powerhouse Cincinnati St. Ursula, are gunning for their 11th straight MAC title. Minster is undefeated.

Also on Thursday, Ursuline heads down to McMillan Street for their first ever match in St. Ursula's new home. While the arena seats around 1500, go early as this could be a quick sellout. Last month's match, won by St. Ursula, saw every ticket snapped up in fifteen minutes.

In yet another battle on Thursday Archbishop Alter, fresh from their outstanding performance in the Nike Challenge, hosts area rival Chaminade-Julienne.

Kidron will see more volleyball excitement on Saturday when undefeated Windham invades for a tri-match in another battle between Division IV powers. Meanwhile, Division IV Centerburg will drive down the road to take on big school toughies Westerville South, Bishop Watterson and Big Walnut in South's quad.

The top ranked Division III Huron Tigers roar into the Northwood Invitational, which also includes Old Fort, Genoa, Margaretta, and Toledo Central Catholic, all ranked in last week's Coaches Poll.

Mt. Notre Dame travels up to Stow to defend the title they won last year, and they will probably run into Mentor along the way.

Mansfield Madison heads up I71 to play in Magnificat's tri-match while Bowling Green heads down I75 to play in Findlay's tri-match. BG beat Findlay earlier this year 15-11, 15-10.
