At least seven of the young ladies who participated in the match played for the club last JO season. It was also another example of the GGCL beating up each other, as the host Cougars handed Roger Bacon their second defeat of the year 25-14, 13-25, 20-25, 25-23, 17-15. MND’s setter Mindy Rees blocked exceptionally in game one setting the tone for the match (defense). In other action, St. Henry took Fort Recovery in three and Jackson Center beat Anna in four. Being ranked #1 in the Division II coaches' poll is hazardous to your health. Roger Bacon was in the top spot on the first poll. They lost right after the poll came out to Chaminade-Julienne. That moved McNicholas to #1 but the Rockets lost the night of that poll's release to Archbishop Alter. Ben Logan took the lead and held it for awhile before losing to Bishop Hartley. So, Roger Bacon moved back on top in yesterday's poll, but by that time the Spartans had already fallen to Cincinnati Mt. Notre Dame on Monday night 25-14, 13-25, 20-25, 25-23, 17-15.
