Contributing To the Website The two items I need help with are:
Contributing News Having run this site for two years, I have become acutely aware how difficult it is to gather information from all over the state. There are many teams, players and leagues to track. Media coverage is inconsistent. Chat rooms provide some information but it's often inaccurate or incomplete. And my time to search out and verify such news is limited. I attend matches and tournaments during the season, and while my wife would say I spend a lot of time at matches, it's only a drop in the bucket of volleyball that's played around the state. So I need coaches, players, parents and fans to serve as eyes and ears and provide news. You may have noticed that a few teams have a lot of news reported about them. That's because someone with that team sends emails with the news. When you see all league honors posted, more likely than not someone sent them. Some time ago I read on a chat site that my list of college signees needed updating. It does indeed, but whatever needs to be added is information I don't know and don't have time to sleuth out. So if you know something newsworthy that is not posted on the site, please share it in an email. I edit anything that's posted, so don't worry about grammar. Just be accurate and provide the salient facts. A couple of other things to note. Timeliness is nice, but late news is better than no news. If you don't have time to send something when it happens, send it when you can. Also, if you're not an adult and are hesitant to send emails to unknown parties (as you should be), send your email to an adult to forward. There are a few things I require from contributors. When you send news for the first time, I need to know who you are (e.g., coach, player, parent, fan). If you are not a coach, I may need to verify the news. For example, I don't list someone as a best player without corroboration. News materials need to comply with the Guidelines for Submitting News Material and meet the standards defined for Website Etiquette. And, of course, the news should be accurate. But that's all there is to it. So if you feel something is newsworthy about your team, league or anything that is high school volleyball related send an email to Ohio High School Volleyball. Volleyball fans will appreciate it. Technical Help From time to time I encounter technical issues with the site. If you have experience with websites or FrontPage, and are willing to have me contact you about them, please let me know.
